Race Day

26 January 2018

The Kempston group collaborated with Rotary again to bring this family event to life in aid of supporting this worthy cause.

The Polio race was held on the 26th January in EL at the Astro turf, Bunkers Hill.

Polio (poliomyelitis) is a crippling and potentially deadly infectious disease caused by the polio virus. The virus spreads from person to person and can invade an infected person’s brain and spinal cord, causing paralysis.

Interested runners and walkers alike had the choice of taking part in either the 3km or 8km event. Each entrant also received a free peak cap!

There were some awesome prizes that were awarded to the ‘racing snakes.’ These were the winning male and female of the 8km event.

All proceeds from the Kempston & Rotary Polio Challenge went to Rotary International to assist in the worldwide fight to end Polio.
